About this site

A small, deliberately narrow site: strength, body composition and sleep, and nothing else.

What this is

This site publishes calculators for three things: estimating a one-rep max from a set you actually did, working out calorie and protein targets from published equations, and doing the arithmetic on sleep cycles. That is the whole scope. There is no news section, no supplement shop and no training programme to buy.

Why it looks different to the others

Most calculators in this category print one number. Ours print the formula, every competing formula, and the spread between them. Seven published equations estimate a one-rep max from 225 lb for 5 reps at anywhere between 253 and 268 lb; three respected BMR equations disagree by about 4% on the same person. A site that hides that disagreement is not being more helpful, it is being less honest. Every page here states which equation produced the headline figure, what the alternatives return, and where the method stops working.

Who runs it

One person, working from published equations and stating their sources. Body Formula is the site; Prioton is the business that publishes it, and behind both is the same person doing the arithmetic. There is no editorial board and no medical review process, which is exactly why nothing here strays into medical territory: no BMI category assignments, no body-fat health thresholds, no diagnosis and no prescription. Where a question genuinely belongs with a doctor or a dietitian, the page says so.

How the numbers are checked

Every formula on the site is implemented once, in one file, and a test suite re-derives every pre-computed answer that ships in the HTML — all 216 cells of the one-rep-max table, all 48 rows of the sleep-cycle table, and the worked example on every calculator page — from an independent implementation of the same published equations. If a formula and a shipped number ever disagree, the build is wrong and we find out before you do. The method is described in full on how these calculators work.

How the site is paid for

Display advertising. We do not sell anything, we do not take affiliate commission on supplements or equipment, and no advertiser has any say in what these pages say. The ad slots are fixed-height and reserved in the layout so an ad loading late cannot shove the answer down the page after you have started reading it.

Corrections

If a number here is wrong, that is the most serious kind of bug this site can have and we want to know. Write to [email protected] — tell us the page, the inputs and the answer you expected, and it gets checked against the source equation. The contact page says what else that address is for.
